Ziyan Yang is an immigrant artist based in New York, originally from Yunnan, China. He studied composition at China Conservatory of Music and he holds an MFA in Musical Theatre Writing from NYU where he was a Tisch Fellow. His works have been performed at iconic venues in NYC such as Joe’s Pub at the Public Theatre, Kaufman Music Center and The Theatre for the New City.
Ziyan serves as the administrative assistant at American Opera Projects(AOP), this year his new musical Ti’Mon featuring book and lyrics by Ashlee K. Thomas will recieve a developmental production by the Obsidian Fe
stival in June 2024 at Detroit Opera house. His work The Song of the Earth, book and lyrics by Briana W. Harris, was selected semifinalist of 2024 Eugune O’Neill National Music Theatre Conference.
